Experts Address Concerns Regarding New COVID-19 Vaccine

The recent approval of a new COVID-19 vaccine in Japan has sparked widespread public anxiety, leading some businesses to refuse service to those vaccinated and causing at least one clinic to suspend administration of the shot due to fears of harassment.

Concerns have emerged from misleading information circulating both online and offline, suggesting that the replicon vaccine can replicate indefinitely in the body and potentially "shed" its components from vaccinated individuals to unvaccinated ones.

In response, the Japanese health ministry and medical experts have reassured the public, stating that these fears are unfounded. The health ministry clarifies on its website, “There’s no scientific evidence that the replicon vaccine will produce an infinite number of proteins in the body or that its components will be transmitted to others.”
